Express Entry depuis l'Iran

Overview for Iranian Applicants

Iran is a significant source country for Canadian immigration, with a well-established Iranian Canadian community numbering over 200,000 people. Iranian applicants to Express Entry are typically highly educated, often holding master's degrees or PhDs in engineering, computer science, medicine, and the sciences.

Canada has long been a preferred destination for Iranian immigrants due to its multicultural society, strong economy, and quality post-secondary education system. The Iranian diaspora in Canada is one of the most educated immigrant communities in the country, with high rates of advanced degree holders.

Express Entry's Federal Skilled Worker Program is the primary pathway for Iranian applicants, given that most apply from outside Canada. Those who have studied at Canadian universities or worked in Canada may also qualify through the Canadian Experience Class.

  • Medical sciences: Physicians, dentists, pharmacists (though licensing in Canada is a separate process)
  • Academic research: STEM fields, particularly at the doctoral level

Tests linguistiques disponibles in Iran

IELTS (General Training)

IELTS is the primary English language test available in Iran. Test centres operate in:

  • Tehran: Multiple centres
  • Isfahan: Test centre available
  • Shiraz, Mashhad, Tabriz: Periodic test sessions

Due to high demand, IELTS slots in Iran can fill up quickly. Register well in advance and consider traveling to a nearby country if local dates are unavailable.

PTE Core

PTE Core availability in Iran may be limited. Check Pearson's website for current test centre availability. Some Iranian applicants take the test in nearby countries such as Turkey, the UAE, or Armenia.

Tests de français

TEF/TCF may be available through Institut Francais or Alliance Francaise in Tehran. French ability is a strong CRS booster for Iranian applicants.

Testing Abroad

Some Iranian applicants choose to take language tests in countries with wider availability, such as:

  • Turkey (Istanbul, Ankara): Good availability of IELTS and PTE
  • UAE (Dubai): Wide range of test options
  • Armenia (Yerevan): IELTS available

Évaluation des diplômes d'études (EDE)

Iranian Education System

Iran has a strong university system, and credentials from recognized Iranian universities are generally well-assessed:

  • Four-year bachelor's degrees (Karshenasi) from recognized universities: Assessed as equivalent to Canadian bachelor's degrees
  • Master's degrees (Karshenasi Arshad): Assessed at Canadian master's level
  • Doctoral degrees: Assessed at Canadian doctoral level
  • Two-year associate degrees (Kardani): Assessed below bachelor's level

Processus d'EDE for Iranian Credentials

  • WES: Accepts Iranian credentials. Documents must be sent directly from your Iranian university to WES. Given postal challenges, allow extra time for document delivery.
  • IQAS: Also accepts Iranian credentials and is sometimes preferred by Iranian applicants

Document Translation

All Iranian documents in Farsi must be translated into English or French by a certified translator. Ensure translations are accurate and complete, as errors can delay the process.

Documents spécifiques Iran

Iranian applicants need a certificate of no criminal record from the Iranian police (NAJA). The process:

  1. Apply through the judiciary system (Edare-ye Sabt-e Ahval) or local police department
  2. Provide fingerprints at the designated centre
  3. Processing time: Can vary significantly, from 2 weeks to several months
  4. For Iranians abroad: Apply through the Iranian consulate or embassy in your country of residence

Note: Processing times for Iranian police certificates can be unpredictable. Start this process as early as possible.

Examen médical

IRCC panel physicians in Iran are limited. Major locations:

  • Tehran: Panel physicians available
  • Other cities: Availability is limited; check IRCC's panel physician directory

Some Iranian applicants complete their medical exam in a neighboring country where more panel physicians are available.

  • Marriage certificate (Aghd Nameh): If applicable, translated and notarized

Conseils pour le score CRS des candidats Iranian Applicants

Profil CRS typique

  • Age: 27-35 years
  • Education: Master's degree (common among Iranian applicants)
  • Work experience: 3-7 years in engineering or IT
  • IELTS: 6.5-7.5 overall
  • CRS score: 450-490 (single applicant)

Comment améliorer votre score CRS

  1. Maximize English scores: Intensive IELTS preparation can yield significant CRS gains. Many Iranian applicants have strong technical English but can improve in speaking fluency and writing structure.

  2. Leverage your education: Many Iranian applicants already hold master's degrees or PhDs, which provides a strong CRS foundation.

  3. Learn French: Farsi speakers sometimes find French pronunciation patterns more accessible. French ability at NCLC 5-7 adds meaningful points.

  4. Provincial Nominee Program: BC, Ontario, Alberta, and Atlantic provinces have streams welcoming Iranian professionals, particularly in engineering and tech.

  5. Canadian education: A Canadian diploma or degree adds both education and potential work experience points through PGWP.

  6. Category-based draws: STEM draws align well with the typical Iranian applicant profile.
